If we are truly honest and actively listening, we come to realize that our history is embedded within and walks beside us every day. And when the salient lessons are not by our side, tugging at us like a toddler, they are smack dab in our faces, taunting and beckoning us to fight on.

This February, let’s end the need to possess others, control their narratives and selfishly use fear to harm their growth and development.
When you embrace and unconditionally love the being you are, then no one can disrupt that narrative and take it away from you.
Who’s checking you, boo? And if they are, are you listening? Does it make you consider changing your thoughts and actions?
Loss inevitably is the precursor to grief. One grieves because one has lost something that had significant meaning in one’s life.
The switching of the terms was very eye-opening and deliberate to me from a counseling perspective. Perhaps it is true that in the past, I have tried to treat the grief and, in turn, have not paid enough attention to the loss.
Sometimes when we open our mouths to fight a cause, we are more annoying than we are impactful. We often jump on bandwagons without receiving context or knowing why we are doing a certain thing. Everything is not a cause! We sometimes protest too much.

As we are suffering through things, we may not believe there is light at the end of the tunnel, but the truth of the matter is that we often emerge on the other side of trouble better and stronger for having persevered through it. There is a lesson to be learned somewhere in our hardships if we are truly listening — actively listening — and ready to hear it.
